Micro-needling is a skin regenerative treatment also known as dermal rollering, skin needling or collagen induction therapy. It is a technique that triggers the healing mechanisms of the skin to naturally induce new skin production, as a means of addressing
the skin ageing process. The development of new collagen, elastin and the water retaining hyaluronic acid are stimulated in the dermis to create a firmer more youthful skin tone whilst the cells of the epidermis are equally regenerated, giving the complexion a finer and smoother texture. In addition, this treatment will help reduce pigmentation by breaking up melanin clusters; fortify a thin, reactive skin; reduce acne and acne scarring and generally revitalise tired, lack lustre skin.
SkinPen Precision is a globally BSI accredited Micro-needling device using single use disposable pen for each procedure.
SkinPen organically stimulates the skin’s natural ability to repair itself. As we age the extracellular matrix of the skin deteriorates, collagen and elastin fibres weaken and diminish leading to fine lines, wrinkles, large pores and an uneven skin texture.
SkinPen comfortably creates thousands of controlled micro-injuries in the skin to trigger the body’s natural wound healing mechanism. Repeated treatments will stimulate fibroblast activity resulting in the formation and remodelling of collagen and the strengthening of elastin.
What does the treatment involve? Does it hurt?
You will initially have a topical local anaesthetic applied to your skin that will make the treatment very comfortable. This will be left on your skin for 30-45 minutes, lasting about an hour. The roller treatment takes about 30 minutes. You will experience sensations from a mild pressure to a prickling sensation and your practitioner will monitor your level of sensation carefully, adjusting the treatment according to your tolerance.
